Three communes on the Parisian periphery mapped to diagnose the thermal performance of residential and commercial buildings
June 2025 - In 2025, Skilled Mapping worked with a local urban planning agency interested in densifying and renovating priority areas in the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis (93) and Val-de-Marne (94).
In Seine-Saint-Denis (93), we analysed 92 residential buildings to create a detailed energy profile of the local building stock. This effort established a database that supports deep quantitative analysis. Buildings were classified by height and type, revealing clear trends in energy performance. The study also identified underheated homes, suggesting potential cases of energy poverty.
This data serves as a foundation for prioritising interventions and guiding local energy renovation policies.
In the Val-de-Marne (94), we assessed 51 buildings in a commercial area to prioritise energy renovation efforts. Two key building types emerged as top priorities: public-access buildings and mixed-use structures. We provided actionable recommendations for the worst-performing buildings, including identifying where to improve insulation, replace outdated windows, and coordinate renovation across neighboring buildings.
The analysis also uncovered potential for reusing industrial waste heat, offering a strategic opportunity to boost the area’s energy performance.
